Hideto Matsumoto was a famed member of the japanese band, X-Japan. He was an awesome person to say the least, and an example for us all.

Hide was found in his bathroom, dead, in 1998. He'd hung himself with a towl tied to the doorknob.

Over 25,000 people attended his funeral, and 26 were hospitalized from the rucus. One of his fellow band members, Yoshiki, made a speech that day. He was shaking and crying so hard he could barley read the paper it was written on.

'"I still can't believe it. His beautiful face is now sleeping. I've tried to wake him up again and again, but still he sleeps... it was hide who always gave me good advice. Of course, he sometimes lost his way under various pressures -- but he always called me anyway. We talked about X, life, fans... sometimes he was like my elder brother, sometimes he was like a little brother... I think all his fans and friends are confused now... I myself cannot express my feelings in words." '

There was no suicide note. There are various rumors that he was murdered.

Hide was very active in AIDs charities, he also donated alot of bone marrow and blood.
A girl once wrote to the 'Make A Wish Foundation', asking for her last wish, to meet Hide. The girl had a terminal illness. Hide visited her in the hospital. Shortly afterwards, the girl began to recover from her illness.

He... was mistaken for a prostitute in Los Angeles.

CNN did a small presentation on Hide's funeral. His music never quite reached america, but the noise from his heartbroken fans was enough to get across the ocean. Literally.

'When being interview by the Canadian press about 'what the big deal' was, Mayumi Meguro, a 21 year old who took the day off for the funeral service, only had this to say:
"I can't believe he's dead."

'This petition is formed in regards to the planned closure of the hide museum on September the 25th in Yokosuka, Japan. This petition is against the closure of the aforementioned museum, and is to be signed by all fans of the late hideto [ hide ] matsumoto.

The hide museum is the only thing left of hide, and has been a place where his soul has been told to lie, in his hometown of Yokosuka, and is the only thing that the fans have left of his beautiful soul. His most personal possessions are there, alongside his most valued and well known- and is a quiet place for looking back at his memory and all the things he has given us as his fans.

Please don't let hide's sprit be forgotten when his body is no where near us now. Please sign this petition and help us appeal to the museums management to not take hide away from us a second time. '
